Natural cleaning options

Over the years, the range of household cleaning products available in supermarkets has grown exponentially.  With products marketed specifically to clean kitchen benchtops, sinks, showers, toilets, floors, windows, mirrors,  and this is not to mention the miriad of laundry products available, it is no wonder we are choking in chemicals.  Adults and children alike are becoming increasingly sensitive to the smells and toxins associated with these products.  While most products claim to be antibacterial, little mention is made of killing viruses which reside on surfaces.  The following link makes interesting reading regarding this issue:  http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2010/04/06/surface-disinfectants-are-ineffective-in-eliminating-viruses.aspx

Amongst all these chemicals, nature appears to have been  forgotten.  Nature offers substances which are highly effective in destroying harmful bacteria, viruses, fungi and other microbes which can cause illness.  Some of these include vinegar, bicarbonate soda, salt, soda crystals and essential oils.  If you are interested in learning how to make your own household cleaning products, please let me know.  If there is sufficient interest, I would run some classes where you make your own products.
