Chronic toxicity and disease

Every day we are exposed to unprecedented levels of environmental pollution. Many people’s individual genetic blueprint may result in an inability to cope with the burden of toxins.  When the body is unable to clear toxins, metabolic imbalances and build-up of waste products can lead to illness.

We are exposed to external, or environmental, toxins from conception creating detoxification challenges throughout our lives.

Never before in human history have we been exposed to such levels of industrial and environmental pollution, heavy metals, persistent organic pollutants, genetic modification of our food and electromagnetic challenges.

Endocrine disrupting chemicals have a devastating effect on humans – men and women alike – as well as animals.

Some of the toxins our bodies are exposed to daily include:

  • Deodorant
  • Dental
  • Motor vehicle fumes
  • Drugs and medications
  • Cigarettes
  • Water
  • Mould
  • Foods

All these pollutants challenge our body’s natural ability to clear waste products.

In addition to the ever increasing level of toxicity we are exposed to, our genetic predisposition has also become compromised over generations leading to DNA changes called SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) which may affect our enzymes, functional processes and body biochemistry.

In order to ensure proper detoxification, both the external and internal problems need to be addressed.

Am I toxic?

Some of the symptoms of toxicity include:

  • Brain ‘fog’ or unexplained, ongoing fatigue
  • Allergy-type reactions due to histamine and other amines, ammonia or heavy metals
  • Feeling “not sick but not well” either
  • Behavioural and mood issues
  • Conditions of oestrogen dominance – fibroids, PMS, endometriosis, breast issues
  • Have excess weight you can’t shift

What can I do?

Consult a qualified natural health practitioner who will be able to assess your symptoms in order to identify the underlying cause. Assessment tools may vary, as may the treatment.  However, always remember that you are an individual and should be treated as such.
