Over the past decade there have been increasing reports on the dangers of mobile phones – increased frequency of brain tumours and cancer. It is not only mobile phones but also the myriad of other wireless electronic equipment we use daily that negatively affect our health.
What is more concerning though is the frequency with which children, and very young children, are often handed a mobile phone or other electronic device to keep them quiet. No doubt these devices keep the kids occupied, but at what price? Children’s nerve tissue, particularly brain tissue, is rapidly developing and therefore more affected by electronic frequencies.
At the risk of sounding old fashioned, perhaps we should give our children books, coloured pencils and other toys to stimulate creativity and learning – at least in the very early years.
