Although these organs are quite separate from each other their function and effects on your body are intricately linked. Their connection is also part of the Hypothalamus and Pituitary glands. The pathways that link these organs are referred to as the:
- HPA [hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal] axis,
- HPT [hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid] axis,
- HPTA (hypothalamus-pituitary, thyroid-adrenal] and also
- HPTAG [hypothalamus-pituitary-thyroid-adrenal-gonadal (ovaries and testes)] axis.
These links illustrate how the function of each of these separate organs or glands affects each of the others. In our body nothing works in isolation and these axes are an excellent example of how lifestyle, diet, environmental factors, toxins, and epigenetics impact what may appear as separate functions.
