Are Heavy Metals making you ill?

Some people are highly susceptible to heavy metals – even low levels of metals can affect us. Doing a heavy metal analysis gives us some insight, but it’s a narrow view. We can combine this with other indicators of toxicity to give us a great deal more clarity of what may be amiss in our metabolism.

Do you feel that, despite being on medications or natural medicines, you just aren’t responding to treatment? This may be because heavy metals are blocking essential metabolic processes.

“Chronic disease is the biggest health challenge facing Australia. In 2001, 78% of respondents in the National Health Survey said they had one or more long-term health conditions. In 2002 – 2003 there were 6.7 million hospital admissions in Australia, with 1.1 million (17.1%) of these being for only 12 chronic diseases. – Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW)

“At least 90% of all Chronic Diseases can be attributed to environmental pollution. Heavy metals were reported to be the major source for the production of free radicals as well as undermining the internal environment and body chemistry. Heavy metals reduce the efficacy of medical treatment by up to 60%. There is little hope for antioxidants and mineral supplements, if the body is burdened with heavy metals”. – World Health Organisation (WHO)

Some other conditions that are attributed to heavy metal toxicity include:

  • Brain ‘fog’ or unexplained, ongoing fatigue
  • Allergy-type reactions due to histamine and other amines, ammonia or heavy metals
  • Feeling “not sick but not well” either
  • Behavioural and mood issues
  • Conditions of oestrogen dominance – fibroids, PMS, endometriosis, breast issues
  • Have excess weight you can’t shift
